GROTON, Conn. – Today will be a special homecoming at the Naval Submarine Base New London. The attack submarine USS Pittsburgh is returning after being deployed.
Master Chief Rory Wohlgemuth, Submarine Development Squadron 12, says the best part of today is when the families see their homecoming. He  relates the feeling  to a wedding or child birth. He says you can feel the excitement in the air this morning and as the boat comes to port later, it will be a roar of emotion.
Wohlgemuth has been deployed before and adds that it is tough but rewarding.

One father who was deployed will even be seeing his son for the first time today.
News 8’s Stephanie Simoni was in Groton with more on the big homecoming in the video http://wtnh.com/2015/05/12/excitement-in-the-air-as-uss-pittsburgh-returns-to-groton/
