The Telegraph20 April 2015
Scientists in the Gulf of Mexico were surprised when a sperm whale circles their submarine.
The scientists were a part of a research exploration team called EV Nautilus when a sperm whale approached their vessel, trying to work out what it was.
The mammals which are endangered are said to be curious and intelligent. The event was all caught on camera with a shocked live commentary from the scientists.
The whale was so close to the camera that the exploration team could even see the scars on its nose, 2000ft under water.
